Is it possible to upgrade from 39 to 41, without installing 40?

We tried but got an error shown below. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Yes, as proton-vpn-gnome not makes part of the basic install of Fedora Linux you have to deactivate the Repository and then do the upgrade. If done you can activate it again and upgrade the software.

This of course if you installed it as rpm. Other option would be to use the flatpak version. But this also just after the upgrade.

sorry i was editing your answer … pressed the wrong button

Answer to your question: yes it is possible.

About the issue in the screenshot: it is a problem with protonvpn package/repository gpg key. Maybe you should import it?

What is the result of this command?
rpm -q gpg-pubkey --qf '%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}\t%{SUMMARY}\n' | grep proton

Thanks, sorry didn’t see your message til now. Yes it was a problem with keys, all sorted now and working, despite the ridiculousness of Proton having such a lame ‘app’ for such an expensive service!

I do agree with that. That is why I love to connect with WireGuard-vpn extension. Pushing the wire-guard config files form their website.

Woah, please tell me more!
I have used another VPN service via the built in network settings in Gnome, but I am really tired of it and there seems to be no desire to make it work properly (can’t change connection without exposing real IP, incredible in 2025).
You said ‘extension’, is there some better way to use Wireguard configs with fedora, neither using an ‘app’ NOR the Gnome network settings? If so I am King Charles.

(All ears).

I think it would be good to make this in a new topic with an adequate title.
This topic here has solution and the title is not about vpn.
