Is bootc stable for everyday use?

Long time user of atomic and the rpm-ostree images.

I’m in the process of revamping my environment, and I know that Bootc is on the horizon.

It’s I’m interested in Boot c at this point because of the ecosystem tools around it that rpm-ostree is lacking.

What is the general opinion consensus on daily driving Bootc based images?

Pretty much I want to know is it going to give me more headaches now or should I just hang on a little bit longer? I couldn’t find anything on the forums or posts to talk about the current status of stability. Just that it’s what’s coming next.

Thank you for your input and feedback.

It has a new name >> “Image Mode”

Although the initiative has been officially approved by the Fedora Council, it still does not have an official name.

The CLI and API for bootc are now considered stable. Every existing system can be upgraded in place seamlessly across any future changes.

In my experience, the Fedora/CentOS bootc base images, Fedora CoreOS, and the still unofficial bootable container images of Atomic Desktops (which I use as my daily driver) perform without any difference in stability from the classic OSTree variants.
