I’m Ellis Low, I was at Flock ’24, and since then I’ve joined Red Hat on the RHEL Lightspeed team. I’ve been writing a blog series about running open source AI on local lean hardware.
Fedora Magazine is in need of more volunteer writers. Your offer is greatly appreciated!
That said, the subject you’ve proposed is a hot button issue. I’m OK with this as a Fedora Magazine article. But the AI articles we’ve published recently have received considerable negative feedback. The editors have been trashing a lot of the negative feedback, especially if it contains no “constructive criticism”. Much of the negative feedback essentially amounts to people saying “I don’t like AI” and, unfortunately, our blogging platform will forward those negative comments to the article author, even if they are not approved by the moderators for publication on the website.
So, if you are OK with seeing considerable negative feedback about your article, I am OK with this content on Fedora Magazine. I’ll leave the final decision to you.
Thanks again for offering to write content for Fedora Magazine.
I am entirely comfortable with all and any feedback, especially the “I don’t like AI” feedback. Thank you for the warning.
It is my hope the hands-on, let’s-build-one-ourselves approach can give some excellent people an opportunity to see things in a new way. And if not, that’s fine too! I was not always accepting of AI, I’m very glad I found my own way of seeing and appreciating it.
