Hi everyone,
This is Jorge from the Dominican Republic, I’m a Linux SysAdmin recently switching to a DevOps path, and a huge Fedora user and fan since Fedora 7, I’m also a co-organizer with @vsrecio for Linux Dominicana, the main FOSS community in DR where we monthly host physical and virtual events with dozens and sometimes hundreds of users regarding FOSS and related technologies.
Thank you all guys and specially @jflory7 for having us here, we are looking forward to contributing to this beloved community and building new Linux friends around the globe.

This is an Introduce Yourself thread for Outreachy Applicants
Hey all! I’m a QA Analyst, and have many years experience with Linux in general. Spent several years distro-hopping one after the other, and found I had fallen in love with KDE. Once I discovered that Fedora had a KDE spin, my distro hopping days are over (for now lol). Really like the 1:1 gestures in KDE Wayland, and so far, the only issue I’m having (Zoom, ugh) can be resolved by joining meetings in the browser (screensharing on Wayland) until Zoom gets their stuff together and writes better code.
Currently in a full-stack programming class. Last semester we learned the Angular framework for the frontend, and this semester we’re learning Ruby/Ruby on Rails framework for the backend.
I’ll also be starting a Cyber Security apprenticeship with my current company in about a month through Purdue University, so i’m excited for that.
Really looking forward to buiking up my programming skills, and being able to jump in and start contributing to the open source community (which I’ve fallen in love with, and have developed a passion for) and their projects. Cheers!

Thanks! Is there any kind of process to becoming a contributor? This would be my first time contributing on an open source project, so I’m still a little green there 
Is there a specific area for contributors? Like one for QA and another for programming? I think I’d be more helpful starting with QA stuff first, then once this semester ends, finding some code to contribute with.

But you could probably skip right to the QA Team’s Matrix channel and ask in there how you can contribute!

Hi there, I am Gemma I have been a software developer in the Microsoft world since 1995 but when I am not at work I use Linux, since about 1993 ± a bit. I have used many distros over the years and have been using Fedora since 34. Yeah I like it a lot and have it on 3 of 4 computers. The other one has 2GB ram so I have to use something lighter there. I have joined many Linux forums for each distro as I passed through, but for Fedora it’s hard to find something to say. I don’t really have any issues and it just sort of works. I mean I don’t join a forum for my kitchen sink as that also sort of just works. So just here to say ‘Hi’ really and see if anyone else says anything interesting. Thanks to the devs and keep up the good work.

What’s awesome is with distros like Fedora, it’s awesome to hop on a forum and saw ‘yay, things work, and thank you devs!’ Those posts are just as important as the ones that let devs know what isn’t working as it should - maybe even more important as far as motivation and morale goes!
