Instead of "power off" the system reboots

I’m under Fedora Linux 44 (Workstation Edition) x86_64

when I press power off, it restarts,

only the second time I press power off

does it shut down.

How can I fix this glitch?

Do you mean you press the physical power button or click on the power off GUI?

You can check in the system journal what happened as the system shutdown.
You should see that the systems was running to shutdown.target for a shutdown and reboot.target if doing a reboot.

Which do you see happening?

I press the power off GUI “power off”,

but the system restarts.

where can I find the system journal?

https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/quick-docs/viewing-logs/

Please check if there is an update stuck. When the workstation Software app wants to do and update, it tries to reboot an add the update.

If this is not working it will reboot when shutting down.

sudo dnf upgrade --refresh

Does this show some updates available?

Does this happen when updates are pending, and you select to install them when shutting down the system? I saw another topic today (see link below) where it was reported that in case of updates to be installed at poweroff, the system restarted as it should, in order to apply the updates, but then didn’t power off again, but exited to the login screen instead. Is this your case?
