I’m trying to set up my Kyocera ECOSYS M5521cdw printer on my Fedora Silverblue 41 system, but I’m running into problems. I have already tried the two drivers offered from System in the Settings, but unfortunately they do not work.
Here are a few details about my setup:
System: Fedora Silverblue 41
Printer: Kyocera ECOSYS M5521cdw
Connection: Wifi.
Does anyone have experience installing this printer on Fedora Silverblue or can recommend an alternative approach? I would be very grateful for any help!
After browsing for a while, I came across this page and was able to install the driver from here. Now I can access the printer settings, but I still can’t start a print job.
Ok via the settings menu I could install the printer x times without success, via cups it works strangely enough immediately with the driver from this side.
But what’s stupid is that the system keeps putting the “broken” printer back on automatically - can you prevent that?
At one point I was having a similar problem.
When I defined the printer manually the system would auto configure a second with a different name that did not work.
However, recently only the printer I manually define shows up in cups for printing.
While the default defined printer is appearing make certain that your manually defined printer has a unique name and set that one as the default. It then should not ever try printing to the other one that the system defines.
