After I installed Fedora 43 workstation via the .iso file and then re-booted, it initially came up with a big grey graphical screen with 3 big dots and then immediately went to a shell.
I don’t seem to be able to get to a graphical interface (Desktop).
Thanks for the help. It didn’t work.
I have an HP Pavilion Slimline s3620f PC with 4GB Ram and a 500 Gb Samsung EVO 869 SSD and a 1 TB HDD. The SSD has Win7 on the first half of the drive and the 2nd half is unallocated which is where I intend to install some Linux distro. The 1 TB HDD is intended for data accessible by either Win7 and/or Linux. Currently Win7 works very nicely, and I’ve now been trying for about a week to install Linux. I have tried various Linux Distros using both the LIVE and the netinst version of the .iso file which I burned and verified to a DVD because the BIOS in this HP does not support booting from USB drive.
I am quite surprised at how difficult it seems to be to install a Linux distro and upon 1st boot after install, get a graphical desktop. I’ve done this kind of thing some years ago on other machines and it worked quite well. Now I seem to fail at every try. I’m not really sure what to do next.
