Installed fpc is 3.2.4 but /usr/bin/fpc is 3.2.3

Why isn’t the version number identical for free pascal ?

john1@Fedora:~$ fpc -version
[0.004] Free Pascal Compiler version 3.2.3 [2026/02/07] for x86_64
[0.004] Copyright (c) 1993-2024 by Florian Klaempfl and others

But installed package is:

```
john1@Fedora:~$ dnf info fpc
did allready :
dnf reinstall fpc
updated since Fedora 38 i think !
Looks like fpc havent updated their internal version number…
rpm -qa fpc
to find out the actual installed package.
Note that version 3.2.4~rc1 is tagged “release candidate”. Maybe the bump the internal number only once released or they forgot about it.
I got the original files from sourceforge and installed them ( after removing these corrupted ? Fedora rpm’s )
fpc-src-laz-3.2.2-241023.x86_64.rpm
fpc-3.2.2-1.x86_64.rpm
Lazarus now compiles without complaining :slight_smile:
Ok, i have to keep in mind to do manual updates !
But why are download rates from sourceforge so terrible low … 300 kb/sec ?
Thanks for your advice !
So your issue was not the version but the fact that the compiler didn’t work?
Because it’s sourceforge.
No, a bit more complicated:
I had installed the Freepascal IDE Lazarus and there is a component “Online package Manager” from which i wanted to install ZEOSlib. That failed because of not supported fpc Version.
Don’t mind because now its running :slight_smile:
