Installation of Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop from Windows 11

For the past three days I am been trying to wrap my mind around why my system is unable to set up fedora in a drive disk that has 1 TB FREE storage, i have been tinkering around repeatedly going through the entire installation process again and again, making tweaks by recommendations of Claude AI, which has proved to be absolutely patheic advice. The entire installation process gets stuck ONLY when I reboot my system having the usb drive removed after successful installation of Fedora. I waited for the system to shut down completely and then only I removed the USB drive and then booted the computer again, it has now been stuck for about 3-2 hours at my laptop’s loading screen, the first screen which one sees when booting on. I am in desperate need of assistance, I am sick of windows why am I being held hostage within this operating system :sob:

I used RUFUS to install the ISO on my usb drive using its default settings. It was a smoother process than using Fedora Media Writer as I encountered DLL issues after factory resetting my laptop
for a complete transition to linux.

The photo attached is the situation currently, i has encountered various different errors in my prior installation attempts however I shall provide context for the same if necessary to help me out of this.

When you see that screen type ESC and you should be able to see log messages.
Share a picture of the last few lines on the screen please.

ESC does nothing, any key is unresponsive except the power button.

You will need to edit the kernel command line to remove rhgb quiet so you can see log messages.

Hold down shift as the system boots so you get into the grub menu then remove the optiions.
Let us know what you see.

does the caps-lock led toggle on and off when on that screen?

Log messages when booting on the system.

This is where the log gets stuck by the way.

Have you tried leaving the USB drive in until after you have rebooted into your new system?

Being stuck in switch root suggests that Fedora is not installed correctly to me.

I have been over the installation process multiple times what do you think seems to be the issue here? Where should I be more careful

Yeah I have, it made no difference however I shall try that yet again and let you know

I tried what you said and it works!!! I ejected the usb through feroda itself it is still working! Thank you so much!!! Does this mean I am going to need this usb drive everytime I need to boot fedora? I am too scared to reboot at this point but I shall I you suggest so :sob:

No you don’t need the USB anymore. Remove it and reboot.

Glad you got going, it’s a silly design, I got stuck in the same place once.

Welcome to Fedora!

As I removed it and wanted to use it further it just did not work. I tried to open the camera application and my entire screen just went black

I rebooted it with the usb drive in and the ejected it later after booting up the first time and I couldn’t open ANY application :sob: neither any system application nor firefox

That is wierd, and sounds like more than one bug.

Can you confirm though, that you can now boot into Fedora without the USB?

If yes, then also start a new thread with what you are seeing.

Is there a chance you booted back into the Live USB ?

What do you mean when you say
“Installation of Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop from Windows 11”?

Is this no longer the Solution?

I know this will sound weird, but can you try to reinstall Fedora again but share these screenshots of some of the steps? We could walk you through the process. I feel like some steps are missing when you install the OS. (Honestly feel like you might have chosen to install to a different drive in the installation process)
