Hi all,
as per title I experience a total input freeze, I’m not a terminal expert but I’ll post some terminal findings.
PROBLEM:
Suddenly Keyboard and Mouse stop working, happens mainly in games (both on Geforce NOW and Steam) and one time during application use (jack - Guitarix - Firefox).
During the input freeze everything still correctly works on screen.
In games, for example, the character is following the last input pressed just before the freeze, so for example, it walks forward and shoots forever (multiplayer works, I see other ppl moving around correctly)
On applications (like playing guitar tru an audio device) I still can perfectly hear the sound processed by Guitarix also during the total input freeze.
- No amount of waiting fix the problem
- No key magic combination works
- Pressing Bloc Maiusc on keyboard doesn’t switch on the relative light like usually does (I do have power and some other lights on thou)
WHAT I TRIED
- After continue freezing in game few days ago I start using a previous kernel (7.2.4-200.fc44.x86_64) and It apparently worked since yesterday, when the freezes started again, not only in games but in normal PC usage.
- Just now (at the time of writing) I had a freeze, I tried to swap mouse and keyboard usb ports with no success.
Then I tried to swap my realtek adapter (rtw88_8822bu) from a usb 3.0 to a normal one…and it actually fix the issue without hard reset.
(Had some problems loading rtw88_8822bu at machine startup, I had to modprobe it at every boot and then, with the help of AI, I made it stick at every boot).
Anyway here some infos if someone wants to look into it.
