A long time ago (back when we were on IRC) we setup a thing called ‘oncall’.
This was to have someone who would take all the ‘pings’ and direct people/decide if it was serious enough to disturb others. Since moving to matrix this doesn’t seem to get used much at all anymore. People either ping specific folks or just ask questions and wait for answers.
Do we still think it’s useful to have this role? Perhaps we should consider just asking everyone to file tickets on issues or wait patiently for replies?
Please bin it. There are still people who ask on IRC for it to report something and no one responds (and by the time I catch up it is usually the person has left).
I agree with the replies above, the role isn’t getting used much anymore and in my opinion brings no value to us.
If somebody calls the “!oncall! command, we can just send them directly to Forge and/or tell them to ask in the channel, and someone will respon.
I think we are now doing a good job monitoring https://matrix.to/#/#admin:fedoraproject.org and responding there. We can keep !oncall to just let people know they should fill a ticket if there isn’t anyone around
