I’m trying Fedora 40 Beta + KDE.
I’m trying to assisgn Meta+Space to switch the keyboard layout, but it activates the application launcher (The launcher does not open, only gets focus).
I tried to find a setting to disable this key binding, but could not find any. Also, sometimes clicking on an application’s icon in the “Icons only task manager” focus the application launcher. Very annoying behaviour.
How can I disable the application launcher from being focused? Both by disabling the Meta+Space key, and by having the old behavior: when I click on an application’s icon, the application gets focused, not the launcher.
you can Meta+Space keybinding for the application launcher in KDE Plasma, open System Settings, navigate to “Shortcuts,” find the Meta+Space shortcut, and delete or modify it. Then, right-click on the panel containing the “Icons only task manager,” select “Configure Icons-only Task Manager,” and choose the option that focuses the application instead of the launcher. Apply the changes, and both issues should be resolved.
In Settings > Shortcuts, if I search for Meta+Space, no shortcut is found. Searching for Meta and Space separately finds some shortcuts, so this shortcut seems to be missing from Settings
Also, in Configure Icons Only Task Manager, in none of the tabs I can find an option that focuses the application.
Please note that Fedora 40 Beta comes with KDE 6 and includes Wayland only.
While trying to change panel’s settings, something froze. I restarted and the panel would not appear again, right clicking on desktop was also unavailable. When no application was running, even the mouse cursor was invisible.
I renamed the file /home/ali/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc, restarted the system, and the new panel that appeared does not have the problem I mentioned.
So if anyone else is facing this problem, maybe renaming that file and restarting might help them
