for a long time, i would say that year or more, i had a problem with the screen and recently i saw it change and almost get fixed so wanted to share the situation
when the pc was turned on, in the login screen i entered password for the user and when the animation or the login window shows up all of a sudden left side of the screen turned green, and then image from the desktop logged in showed up, except for around 2 or 3 pixels thick line for the left half of the screen, that line never went away, no matter what i did, i thought that it was perhaps kernel, or the tv, so i changed distros and even the tv i use, problem remained
i never took a picture because take a picture of a monitor that looks half decent is surprisingly very hard with a smartphone, but this reddit post, illustrates the situation
in distros like mint this doesnt happen so i guessed it was a kde thing and the link proves there was a report about it
i was distro hopping and opensuse was doing it too, so it was not a fedora thing for sure, kde neon iirc did it too
in a recent update to kde, cant remember which one, only the line on the bottom was visible, not on top or the left side
last update to 6.7.4 removed the entire green border when logged into the kde session, but in a fun twist, when i log in now, not just left half goes green, the entire screen does, but since it goes back to normal after that, without any green border remaining, i call this progress
i dont know what causes it because it was supposed it was just amd gpus but i read about nvidia gpus being affected too but not many mentions it so i imagined for some time it was my hardware, but the reports and the progress on the problem gave me hope on the situation being resolved
it was very annoying to watch a movie full screen and see half screen with a bright green border, that is why i mention this here
