Idea of Linux Desktop booth at FrOSCon 2026

Debian people have reached out to me at Chemnitzer Linuxtage with the idea of a shared booth for Debian, Fedora and openSUSE for Linux Desktops. The idea is based on the hot discussions in Europe for switching to Linux.

In the past, we have represented us, as Linux distributions, separately. In this case, we would have 2 people per Linux distribution at one booth regarding Linux Desktops.

I am open minded and openSUSE, the same as Debian, are open for giving it a try. Is Fedora interested for booking a shared Linux Desktop booth?

The Call for Projects is open since this week!

It is a great idea to represent Linux together.

I’m sure we can get it sorted.

Nice! Then we need 2 Fedora Ambassador volunteers for the FrOSCon project portal.

To get official support, and possibly some small financing and swag etc, file a ticket with Mindshare.

I would probably be interested in going, and I remember last year there was a number of people who went, so finding two people should be fairly easy.

I shared this in the Fedora FrOSCon channel

We should avoid “double work”. There is a channel of Fedora in which all that is already organized.

I shared this ticket so that the people involved in organizing the FrOSCon Fedora booth can consider it.

I think the registration is not yet done, but it is indeed intended for this/next week ^^

I forgot: https://chat.fedoraproject.org/#/room/#event-froscon:fedoraproject.org → this is where the organization of Fedora / FrOSCon currently takes place :classic_smiley:

Feel free to join the channel too, the booth can benefit if more people volunteer to share the work at the booth :classic_smiley:

I am all for joint efforts, but I am a bit confused how it would work logistically.

If we get 1 small table for all three distributions, with at least two representatives for each - we are going to be fighting for chairs and for space on the table to put a sticker

If we are going to get three tables in that one joint booth, that’s essentially how we did the FrOSCon before, with our tables very close to each other in the Menza area.

It is not a bad idea, but that means that the proposed change is more or less cosmetic?

Or are you trying to set up some kind of different layout, where we all are going to occupy some other larger space?
