Hello ! I’m a beginner I’ve tried to follow Fedora tutorials / docs but I can’t get my cg 5070 Ti to recognize Fedora 42 kde plasma the 570 drivers are installed but it’s always the new driver and the one for my cpu and I have 1080 resolution … on boot, either it’s a kernel panic or a missing kernel module, back again… I’ve tried gnome, but when I boot on it to install it hard, the screen drools and the mouse cursor becomes unreadable, I can’t see anything.(I’ve tried kubuntu, which works because the menu allows you to install nvidia’s proprietary and tested drivers!..) but I prefer Fedora kde!
Thx
Switch to the open module
sudo sh -c 'echo "%_with_kmod_nvidia_open 1" > /etc/rpm/macros.nvidia-kmod'
sudo akmods --kernels $(uname -r) --rebuild
It doesn’t work, I tried it as root, it doesn’t do anything.
Did you setup akmods to use secureboot?
I left secure boot enabled and installed normally with the rpm repository and the 599 maj. I haven’t done anything else since my last message. Thanks for trying to help!
I followed and typed the command lines according to the link how to secure boot I had a blue screen with enroll key I followed the instructions and reboot but it does not change anything once on the desktop Fedora
You need to rebuild the nvidia module to sign it
sudo akmods --force --rebuild
No akmod packages found nothing to do
Did you install the driver?
rpm -qa *\nvidia\*
Nvidia-gpu-firmware-20250410-1.fc42.noarch
That is just the firmware for the nouveau driver.
Install the release files, skip if they are already installed
sudo dnf install https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm
Then install the driver
sudo dnf install akmod-nvidia
Jesus gooooood thank you very much !!!
If I ever need to reinstall Fedora, what command lines should I type? Is there an order during the 1 boot of things to do apart from putting the rpm repository and the maj?
The screen went blank and paf 200 hz with my native resolution 2560x1080 21/9 finit le 1080 merciii
