I am afraid to use OBS Studio on Fedora Linux 43

,

Literally the title.

I installed OBS Studio(non-flatpak) and OBS studio just randomly crashes:

  • OBS crashed once when working with the Browser source
  • OBS crashed when working with the advanced-scene-switcher plugin
  • An additional random OBS crash

Imagine I am doing a live stream and OBS crashes during the stream. On Windows 10 on the other side, OBS NEVER CRASHED.

Why Linux can’t have nice things?

P.S Why I avoid the flatpak version is because I am not sure what limitations will I have when using it, for example, the advanced scene switcher says there will be some limitations but it doesn’t mention what.

smaller market, fewer users, less development, fewer developers.

Have you reported the problem to anyone?

You could start with reporting problem to in the Fedora bugtracker - Making sure you're not a bot!

The maintainer will likely need to know what your hardware and software config is.
You can provide that with inxi -Fzxx.

Thanks, I’ll try to capture info and report the crashing.

Is it better to use the flatpak distribution of obs in general or?

Both have their benefits and drawbacks.

Which you use is entirely up to you, assuming you’re not on an immutable installation where everything must be layered.

I installed OBS on my linux system (f44 Workstation) with RPM and have had no issues with it.
