So basically I used Fedora KDE Edition for about a week, and I found a problem about typing
I’m a Fcitx5 Chinese user, and if I run Java-based applications such as Arctime or Minecraft Java Edition, my Fcitx5 doesn’t work and I can only type in English.
One of my friend said this problem can be solved with Xwayland, but he doesn’t use Fedora but Arch, so I really don’t know where can find help. Pls someone help me
I have a page on Japanese in Linux which covers a few issues I had with fcitx5 and input. Though not Chinese, I think the issues are similar. I don’t know if Xwayland will help though it might–KDE (which I don’t use) is going to be KDE whether on Arch or Fedora.
I found that with Fedora and Gnome (vs KDE), it was just easier to use ibus, as they seem to want to push it over fcitx5. I usually use openbox or dwm, and don’t have trouble with them. For Wayland, I find that I can get Japanese running in labwc, an openbox equivalent.
My page is at https://srobb.net/jpninpt.html with the Wayland section at the end. I’d try Xwayland as your friend suggests, and if it doesn’t help, I’d consider switching to ibus.
