How to use cosmic-greeter as display manager

Wasn’t sure where else to put this, but I found a cool writeup on how to use cosmic as display manager: How to Setup cosmic-greeter as Display Manager · GitHub

Hello,

Here’s a brief overview of the steps involved based on the writeup:

Setup Greetd:
Edit the greetd configuration file, typically located at /etc/greetd/config.toml.
Configure the command to run cosmic-comp with cosmic-greeter and set the user to cosmic-greeter.
Enable Greetd:
Disable any existing display manager (e.g., sddm) using systemctl disable sddm.service.
Enable greetd with systemctl enable greetd.service.
Reboot:
After enabling greetd, reboot your system to apply the changes.

What is this Cosmic Greeter thingy and why would i want to have it as a display manager?

It’s the login window thing you see. Two main reasons I use it are because I use cosmic desktop and because it loads faster than gdm
