How to setup keyboard locale for Fedora LXQT spin?

I recently installed the Fedora LXQT spin on an old laptop and I’m unable to setup the locale to latam-deadtilde for the keyboard. During installation I selected latam-deadtilde in keyboard options but on install it is using the default us keyboard layout.

I tried using:
sudo localectl set-x11-keymap latam "" deadtilde

Which sets up the keyboard correctly, however, it doesn’t work.

I tried editing ~.config/lxqt/miriway-shell.config and changing keymap=us to keymap=latam-deadtilde but that also didn’t work-
I also tried keymap=latam+deadtilde and keymap=latam but those also didn’t work.

XDG_SESSION_TYPE ouputs wayland
MIRIWAY_CONFIG_DIR outputs lxqt
MIRIWAY_SYSTEM_LOCALE1_KEYMAP outputs 1
miriway --version outputs 2.26.0

I also tried using lxqt’s gui language app but that also didn’t seem to work, it opens a popup asking for authentication but once filled it doesn’t seem to do anything.
lxqt’s locale gui app seems to work, but it doesn’t have options for the keyboard.

After install I ran sudo dnf update. This is on a Presario CQ40. I didn’t find an app to copy the system specs like KDE’s info center.

Hello and welcome @suspicious-raccoon

It looks to be there:

localectl list-keymaps | grep latam
latam
latam-colemak
latam-deadtilde
latam-dvorak
latam-nodeadkeys

Have you looked at inxi for that yet.

And have you tried this yet?

sudo localectl set-x11-keymap latam pc105 deadtilde

Best of luck though.

Hi, thanks for the answer

I tried:
sudo localectl set-x11-keymap latam pc105 deadtilde

localectl ouput:
System Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8
VC Keymap: latam-deadtilde
X11 Layout: latam
X11 Model: pc105
X11 Variant: deadtilde

but after restarting it is still using the us keyboard layout.

I ended up installing labwc with:
sudo dnf install labwc
and switching to that compositor in lxqt’s Session gui app

Then I installed labwc-tweaks with:
sudo dnf install labwc-tweaks

And adding the layout there under the keyboard option.
