How to permanently stop screen tearing?

For almost a decade I have had ForceCompositionPipeline=On in xorg settings and it was fine.

Recently, I changed to a dual monitor setup. So I made the following changes to the conf file. Note the latest line at the bottom after the commented out lines from earlier configurations.

$ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia-noscreentearing.conf
Section "Screen"
    Identifier     "Screen0"
#    Option         "metamodes" "nvidia-auto-select +0+0 {ForceCompositionPipeline=On}"
#    Option         "metamodes" "DP-0: 2560x1440_144 +0+0 {ForceCompositionPipeline=On, AllowGSYNC=On, AllowGSYNCCompatible=On}, HDMI-0: 2560x1440_144 +2560+0 {ForceCompositionPipeline=On}"
#    Option         "metamodes" "DP-0: 2560x1440_144 +0+748 {ForceCompositionPipeline=On, AllowGSYNC=On, AllowGSYNCCompatible=On}, HDMI-0: 2560x1440_144 +2560+0 {rotation=right, ForceCompositionPipeline=On}"
    Option         "metamodes" "DP-0: 2560x1440_144 +0+748 {ForceCompositionPipeline=On}, HDMI-0: 2560x1440_144 +2560+0 {rotation=right, ForceCompositionPipeline=On}"
EndSection

However, the setting is sometimes reverting to Off on its own, verified through nvidia-settings. Not sure of the cause but it happens many times after the screen is locked and then unlocked. Screen tearing is very noticeable on video playback with it Off.

Why is this happening and how can I maintain the On setting permanently, as it was for so long before?

The monitors are connected by HDMI for one, and DP 2.1 for the other. Nvidia driver version 580.178.04
