How to Image and Restore a LUKS encrypted volume for backup?

My main drive (and only drive) is fully encrypted with LUKS. I am looking to image the entire drive and store it on a backup USB drive so that if something happens to the machine, I can then either place the image on a new machine, or restore the image to this machine. The drive is encrypted with LUKS but of course, I know the key. Which tool would be best suited for imaging the entire drive and then how would I restore this image and decrypt it if I need to do so on a different (or same) machine? Are there any implications or problems that could occur that would not be as trivial as inputting the correct key? Thanks.

I have never done it but if I had to I would use the native LVM snapshot functionality.
