OS: Fedora Silverblue 40
I have an extra disk accessible via path /var/mnt/vault
.
However, I can’t star files in that disk, even though it’s already indexed.
Hence, the title. How to enable file starring for additional partitions?

File starring? Do you instead mean sharing? I am merely asking.
You can “star” files in nautilus. It’s basically a different name for favourites.
There’s a dedicated page for starred files in the side bar, below recents.
My assumption is that only files/folders within the Home directory can be starred. You can notice that system files (e.g. under /etc
) can’t be starred either.
What happens if you create a symlink of your mounted device within your home folder (or mount it directly in your home folder)?
I think you’re correct, symlinks located inside /home
can be starred.
Ah, I see. In that case I would assume that you need to have the rights to modify attributes of those files in question.
