How to build Fedora Docs page locally?

I am the maintainer of the Java packaging HOWTO guide at: Making sure you're not a bot!

There are some open issues for the page i would like to fix, mostly about formatting or incorrect references. To fix them I would like to be able to build the pages locally.

I think the pages are built using tools here: Fedora / Fedora Docs / Docs Website / Fedora Docs Website · GitLab but I was unable to build them locally: Unable to build pages locally (#10) · Issues · Fedora / Fedora Docs / Docs Website / Fedora Docs Website · GitLab .

Could someone help me with this?

Oh sorry, I remember I wanted to do this for Java. Mea Culpa.

If you want to do it, see:

I can still do it, but not until middle of February.

Sorry again.

Additionally, alternativly you may use:

https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/server-working-group/usr-docs-maintenance/local-authoring/

I am also unsuccessful with getting the docsbuilder script to work for me, so I have always been resorting to the local installation of Antora (and Node.js) to get local build and preview. Just my 2c.

The page reads:

Last review: 2026-11-11

This probably needs to be fixed.

I haven’t had any issues with docsbuilder.sh so far. Do you have Podman installed?

I am not complaining. I perhaps have/had a specific setup in my system, like the NTFS filesystem where I put my local repository or a space in the path.

@mkoncek I had a look again, and I noticed now, you don’t look for information, but there is an error.

I just cloned the repo, and it builds without the error you noticed. But it con’t find a lot of content pages nor a starting page. There seems something basically wrong with the repo. Specifically with the config for local build.

I’ve to check.

You know, Fedora First, we are always ahead of the pack

This is almost certainly not correct and I do not advise you to do it, but the following worked for me:

To use docsbuilder with the parameters you mentioned is officially supported. It is a resolution in case of problems with inotify. It is works, great. But is doesn’t resolve the problem. There must be something wrong with the current state of the repo.
