How to automatically update when turning pc on and off

Hi there,

I have been rolling out fedora linux onto a very small number of my clients machines as they only need basic general usage such as Web browsing and basic document editing. Plus their machines won’t run windows 11.

However, the issue on kde fedora, is that despite having auto update turned on and check daily and install updates offline.

Updates don’t download automatically except if one goes into software store and updates and checks option to install.

Will there be an update that when there is a software update, updates will download and install automatically and if a restart is required, then updates will be applied next time the user switches on the computer.

KUbuntu seams to be able to automatically install and do updates without issue, so why is fedora seemly having any issue?

Many thanks for your help.

You could use dnf-automatic to do the updates automatically. I thought that the software manager would automatically do updates but I am not familiar with how kde manages it.

So it’s a kde thing I would need to look into?

Only thing as I did day is that kubuntu is able to automatically install updates and apply them on the next start up with the same settings. So why can’t fedora? I will ask at kde and see if it’s a bug or something. One should not have to mess around in cli to get auto updates enabled if the setting for check and download updates is enabled.
