How does netinstall differs from KDE Plasma Desktop Edition? The difference is not really clear to me apart from the fact the netinstall starts an install right away and KDE Plasma Desktop Edition will first boot into a live environment. If I select KDE as my environment, will I end up with a different system? (I want to use netinstall to replace grub with systemd-boot, as it is quicker).
The other key difference is that netinstall downloads the latest version of each package you are installing, whereas the KDE Plasma edition ISO copies fixed versions of the package (in the case of the “official” ISO, it’s packages from October, but you can alternatively get a respin ISO with more recent packages.)
It should be very similar (apart from the packages being more up to date from the netinstall).
Make sure you do select KDE as the “base environment” (from the left hand side of the selection screen). If you do what I once did, and select “Fedora Custom OS” on the left-hand side, then the KDE groups on the right-hand side, you may get an unexpected system (e.g. missing wifi functionality).
Unfortunately this functionality is broken on the Fedora 43 netinstaller.
Thanks for a speedy reply!
That is good to know, I asking exactly in order to avoid such mishaps that I am prone to.
Luckily I am asking in advance for Fedora 44, where it is fixed according to the bugzilla ticket linked at the end of that thread.
