How do I make an ACL persist after Fedora update?

Inside /home/pwdbs I have 2 files that I need accessible to 2 users on my system. They’re owned by 1 of the users with rwxrwx--- permissions.

After using setfacl -m u:username:rwx filename on each, I’m able to access them using both users. I’ve noticed that after a system update the custom ACL of each file is removed. Using sudo setfacl... doesn’t seem to help. I should note also I usually update Fedora from the Software app GUI.

How do I make the specified ACL permission(s) persist after an update?

What do you mean by system update? What exact command do you use.

Software app > Updates > Update everything presented. I don’t update via CLI.

Why not put both users into a group and give the group permissions on the two files? No need to use an ACL.

Funny; I found a group that suggests I tried that exact thing in the past, but I don’t remember why I didn’t use it and went with ACLs. I’ll try this for now. Thanks.

It seems you have something resetting the permissions on the file.
You would need to find what does that.
