I have a CBR file and an MP4 file on my desktop, but they don’t show thumbnails; instead, they just show the software icon. I’ve tried configuring Dolphin’s preview options, and both ‘Comic Book’ and ‘Video Files’ are checked. I also have kde-thumbnailer-comic installed. Does thumbnail rendering on the desktop depend on specific software? Last time I used Arch Linux with KDE, it showed previews for both
Have you adjusted the settings under view to change the view mode and to show previews (F12)? Here’s a zoomed in view of the only CBR I have and as you can see, it’s thumbnailing it fine, without any additional installations to Dolphin - nothing other than Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2 and Ctrl-3

I got it working right after I started this thread!
Mine was only showing the generic software icons on the desktop and in folders.
- For media: Install
ffmpegthumbs. - For comics: Install
gnome-epub-thumbnailer, sincekio-extrasdoesn’t seem to show thumbnails for large files.
