Help reinstalling Fedora 42 and save data

Basically, my computer stopped working because of issues with Nvidia drivers after updating my OS. All my efforts left me with an utterly borked OS so I’m going to reinstall.

My question is how do I do that without deleting my data drives? Currently I have 3 drives in my power. A SSD serves as the main drive with the operating system on it. The other two are just for storage. A 2 Tb drives stores general files while the 5 Tb drive stores my steam games. I have several Tb of data (mostly installed steam games) and I want to avoid having to reformat them and start all over again with countless hours of installing games.

I’ve ground through reddit and this forum and just general internet searches and never found a satisfactory answer. Any help would be appreciated.

I have never needed to do that sort of recovery, but as I understand it, the process would be to do the reinstall, while keeping your /home (without formatting) and not selecting the data drives as install targets. Only install to the SSD.

Others likely may have first hand experience to assist.

You said that the nvidia drivers and an update caused the problem.
From what source were the nvidia drivers installed.? Most users here recommend only installing those drivers from rpmfusion, and those drivers are automatically updated with system updates.

Installing the drivers from a different source has other issues with updates, especially when installed directly from nvidia.

What about uninstalling the Nvidia drivers completely and then add them again through RPM-Fusion? Must be an easier and shorter way of getting things running again than a complete re-install. As @computersavvy also asked: how did you install the drivers.
Why do you think they are the culprit? Do you have signs (in log files for example) for that?

The solution I found was to spend circa $300 on an AMD graphics card. Then I wiped the OS and reinstalled it. Worked right out of the box with the AMD card.

Thanks for your efforts and sorry for the lateness of my reply.

Thank you for your feedback. It is a shame you did not answer some questions that were asked here. You could have saved the $300 that way. Nvidia, when installed the right way from the RPM-Fusion repo, is working great with Fedora.
It is always important to give a lot of info when you have a problem. Nobody here on the forum can look over your shoulder to see what hardware you have, what you are doing, what has been installed, etc. You have to give it here or nobody can really help you.
Well, it is what it is. Have fun with the AMD card, I’m sure it will work great.
