I can view hevc images with loupe, but nautilus does not show thumbnails.
Hevc-related packages that are installed on my system:
libheif.x86_64 1.17.5-4.fc40 @fedora
libheif-freeworld.x86_64 1.17.5-3.fc40 @rpmfusion-free
libheif-tools.x86_64 1.17.5-4.fc40 @fedora
I’ve also tried installling heif-pixbuf-loader, but no luck.
One thing I noticed is that according to /usr/share/thumbnailers/heif.thumbnailer, thumbnails are generated with heif-thumbnailer.
I tested that command but got a strange error:
$ heif-thumbnailer -p pictures/Camera/20240905_120211.heic test.png
libpng error: profile 'unknown': 278h: length does not match profile
Error while encoding image
could not write image
