I just want to share how to enable support on Fedora 42 Workstation for the HEIC format since there isn’t a specific discussion for Fedora 42.
For GNOME Image Viewer and thumbnails:
Add rpmfusion free repository.
sudo dnf install libheif-freeworld libheif-tools
