Why when I search for Grsync in GNOME Software I get no results, but a dnf search grsync comes back immediately and can be installed? What is the mechanism to get this package added to GNOME Software?

the package needs AppStream information, which is some sort of metadata that makes Gnome Software (or other app stores aware of the existence of the app)

Is this something I can provide? Or should I be bugging the original developers? Or will opening a bugzilla rectify this? I wonder how many other applications are missing Appstream info…seems like something a distro should be worried about…

Appstream info is provided by the original developers of the program in the form of an appdata xml file.
It includes all the info about the program like the icon, description, screenshots, etc.
Gnome software picks all that info from the the xml file and displays it to you whenever you open up that program’s entry from gnome software.
