Google online account

Hello everyone, this is my first post here on the forum. I’d like to ask, wouldn’t it be possible for the Fedora team to keep GVFS? We’ll lose the connection to our Google account in Gnome.

reference: Fedora 44 WS beta. Gnome 50 . No link Google Drive

GVfs is not going away.

libgdata is gone because zero developers were willing to maintain it. Sorry.

It is not gvfs that is broken it’s the connection of Google Drive.

The Gnome team has asked for volunteers and no one stepped up. Libgdata has not seen development for 4yrs. . . I think mainly because the team moved away from using GDrive. Which is funny, I too moved away from using Google Drive just this past summer, so I can’t contribute to the project.

edit:
Oops, I see you’ve already asked the Gnome team, and your question is actually to ask someone here to pick up the maintenance.

Alternatives:
rclone — Mounts Google Drive as a local filesystem

google-drive-ocamlfuse or insync

Yes, I was trying to see with the Fedora team if they could keep the connection working in the next Gnome update, and regarding rclone, the issue isn’t just the drive, but the calendar, files, etc…
