Gnome: open windows are unresponsive after clicking on desktop

Hello
This is a recent installation of Fed 39. I have been using Manjaro for a number of years.
The problem appears to be while in the Gnome shell and if I have a window open, say
firefox, and then I click on the desktop, I am unable to manipulate the firefox window or
enter information.
If I use the Super key and click on the firefox window, all is fine again. I have pasted
some journalctl info below but I don’t think it is related. Or is it?

Thanks,

Lou

Is this Wayland or X? Are you using any extensions?

Can you try making a fresh user account? Does it happen there?

That’s the only one that stands out, but I don’t think it’s actually relevant. I see it too, with no apparent ill effects. It’s reported here: meta_window_set_stack_position_no_sync: assertion 'window->stack_position >= 0' failed (#930) · Issues · GNOME / mutter · GitLab

It is using wayland and extensions. I will try a fresh account…

I created a new user and unfortunately it suffers the same problem.

Have you tried to disable any extensions running and also does it also happed using xorg.
