Gnome on Fedora 44 - upload / download broke recently in Chrome, Firefox, Slack and possibly other applications

Hi,

Recently I see this issue where nothing happens when I try to:

• Save from the web browser
• Upload from the web browser or Slack

If I open the browser 's Download settings I can’t choose where to save files, nothing happens when I click on Browse (Firefox) or Change (Chrome). It’s like the file chooser / picker has disappeared.
There’s a workaround for Firefox described here: Client Challenge which recommends setting widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker to 0 in about:config, which restores the functionality for me, it was set to 2 previously. But it looks like something’s fundamentally broken in Gnome and this is what should be fixed.
Has this been reported already? Happy to provide more details if needed. Thanks.

I hit a problem similar to that once while using Sway.^[1] In my case, it turned out that I was missing the sway-systemd package. Are you using Sway?

Thanks for your reply. I’m not using sway desktop.
L.E. False alarm, turns out I had xdg-desktop-portal-gnome.service service masked.
