GNOME issue, 100% brightness setting gives 0% brightness

As of late I am having a strange issue with the display backlight of my Framework 16. Whenever I set display brightness to max, it dims the screen. One step back from 100% yields expected brightness (pretty much max). Anyone know how to fix this? As far as I can tell everything is up to date.

This kind of “here’s my system” output is next to useless for this kind of issue - you’d be better off posting the output from inxi -ezxx.

Only when people can see the version of specific drivers and software can their be any insight as to what is causing the issue.

Pure guesswork - does booting with acpi_backlight=native help?

This a kernel regression that is currently being worked on. You can find mention of it with some discussion upstream here: Graphical issues on AMD after kernel update to 7.1.6 - #82 by thl

You reported the issues with 7.1.8 which is the very latest Kernel, so it can’t be resolved…?
BTW, I run a Framework 16 with different hardware: Ai9 with 890M GPU and I just tested using Kernel 7.1.8 and that issue isn’t resolved as when I go brightness from 95% to 100%, it actually dims it severely again.
This has been around on KDE Plasma for a while but since I don’t run it past 75% brightness it has currently no effect on me.
