Gnome crashes after moving secondary screen

Hi, I have two screens connected to two different graphic cards on my PC. This morning I found the primary screen faulty (shows nothing when connected to another PC, too), so I swapped it with a new one, which works but it’s positioned in the wrong place by Gnome: it’s physically located on the right, as it’s always been before (primary monitor on the right, secondary on the left), but if I move the mouse pointer on the left edge of the primary screen, it does not enter the secondary screen; it happens instead that it enters the secondary screen when I move it on the right edge.
In gnome-control-center > Screens I can see the primary on the left and secondary on the right, but when I try to move them (even if I move just one of them a little) gnome crashes as soon as I click on “Apply”, and the new position is not kept.

Is there any configuration to reset, or similar? Please ask me which details I have to share with you,

thank you very much
Angus

GNOME Shell 47.9
Fedora 41

Each monitor has a serial number and the desktop uses that to record the position you configure.

As you have a new monitor connected you will need to go into settings and tell the system where its positioned.

Thank you Barry, could you explain me which settings your are referring to? The gnome-control-center, “display” section, is affected by the problem.

I don’t use gnome but assume it has a “displays” section in its settings where you set the position of the screens.

Thanks for the advice, but that is indeed the action that triggers the crash. Is there any way to reset the configuration by deleting any file, or so?
