"Ghost" update (?)

I saw an update on Gnome Software:

then when I click “Download” and “Restart & Update” button, it did reboot and it did start an offline update but when I check on dnf history, it didn’t alter anything (I tried two times):

And yeah after that reboot, the update is still there and won’t gone.

I ran sudo dnf upgrade but the output is Nothing to do meaning there’s no update, yet that “ghost” update is still there.

So what should I do?

Ahh my bad. just ran sudo dnf upgrade --refresh and there’s a conflict that prevent this update

Problem: cannot install the best update candidate for package mesa-va-drivers-freeworld-26.0.5-2.fc44.x86_64

  • nothing provides mesa-filesystem(x86-64) = 26.0.6 needed by mesa-va-drivers-freeworld-26.0.6-1.fc44.x86_64 from rpmfusion-free-updates

GUI doesn’t tell it.

This is why I prefer to use the cli with dnf command. The gui hides a lot of messages.

OOT

Anyway, that update showed in dnf history .
So it’s mean PackageKit now uses dnf5 as backend and no longer relying on dnf4 ?

Yes, as of Fedora 44.
