Hi everyone, I really don’t know how to address this problem. let me explain what’s happening. I put my lenovo thinkpad T470 into sleep mode for about 4 hours. When I came back I restore the session, I typed my password to log into my machine and it shows me the gnome desktop, but when I open any software (gnome-calendar, gnome-software, gnome-files) any other software from the task bar ( if is called like that). It freezes immediately. To see what happened to my system, I shut down the computer by pressing the on/ off button, I logged again, I opened up the terminal and typed` journalctl -S “2024-12-28 18:00:00” I took a screenshot just to show what the command showed me, and I got this.
I have to say that I don’t know anything about programing but as I saw what the command printed me I see that the application that gave me troble was gnome-software. I don’t know if I’m seeing a bug or something but the freezing problem happens a lot often. It does’t happen always but it happens a lot, any ideas of how to address this problem ? what can I do to stop it?, how can I get more information ? I don’t really know what I’m doing but I want to learn. Thank you for your time and patience.

Hi and welcome to .
Are you on Fedora Workstation or Silverblue? Can you post the output of inxi -Fzxx
, and that of flatpak list
?
Please post the outputs as preformatted text (and not as images), using the </>
button.
When the apps freeze, do you have to force close them, or do they crash too? Are there any apps usable?

Does coredumpctl list
show any of the apps freezing (incl. gnome-shell
), with recent timpestamp? If yes, then please post the output of coredumpctl info <pid>
for one of the relevant processes (replace <pid>
with the number of the process).
Do the freezes always happen after waking up from suspend? What is the output of journalctl -b -1 -n 50
, run after the forced reboot?
PS: the formatting of the inxi
command in the previous post didn’t succeed, it should look like the one from flatpak list
in the same post.

If I run coredumpctl list
I get the following
Sun 2024-10-20 11:24:51 MDT 3382 1000 1000 SIGSEGV missing /usr/bin/gnome-software -
Thu 2024-11-07 05:19:02 MST 5825 1000 1000 SIGSEGV missing /usr/bin/gnome-calculator -
But as I can see, the date is a little old I don’t know if is relevant but if you tell me to type it in here I’ll do it, because the information that is displayed from coredumpctl info 3382
is a bit much.
It doesn’t always happen from suspend. But sometimes it happens, I think I installed fedora workstation around september or october and since then I think I had this same issue 6 times more.
The output from journalctl -b -1 -n 50
is the following.
