Fool proof guide for installing winapps and OneNote

Hello everyone, I am a student who relies on using OneNote for school and love being able to use it for handwritten notes. I have a tablet that I take to class to take notes but would like to be able to use my laptop to use the search function to speed studying up. Would someone kindly please point me to a fool proof installation guide. I have tried following directions from the github page and nowsci but keep getting stuck. I was able to install Docker but have issues with the steps after that. If this is already posted somewhere else apologies for the double post. For some context I am a new linux user but have been able to manage everything so far by following instructions in forums and youtube videos.

OneNote is not natively supported on Linux.

The only way I have seen them available is as Snaps. Although I haven’t tested either of these.

I abandoned Windows in 2022 and there are only a few apps that I miss: Total commander, Mediamonkey and offline MS Office 2010+ (including onenote).

I have successfully managed to run TC/MM via Wine, works fine, but with MS office it’s a bit more difficult. AI says only Office 2010/onenote 2010 can be run reliably - especially 32-bit one, and you are probably on a more modern version.
Didn’t manage to try it yet, just use WPS office at the moment which is ok for basic DOC/XLS/PPT tasks.

seems like there’s no easy solution for your case. Perhaps it would be more reasonable to find a native linux app for it. I personally stopped using onenote completely.

There’s a wonderful app QOwnNotes and also Obsidian that store notes in text/md format, perhaps they support handwriting too.

While both are good programs, one recommendation that often comes up for handwritten notes is Xournal++.

Another way to use OneNote (if you need to use it), is to use the web app.

Thank you all for the wonderful recommendations and advice. The main reason why OneNote fits my current work flow is because its has the best search tool for both text and handwritten notes. I mostly annotate the lecture pdfs and I found that Xournal++ would often miss certain words during the search. I have tried using the web app for it but its missing way too many features mainly the search function. We have 30 lectures a week and a set of slides for each lectures so I’ve become overly reliant on using the search function when reviewing for quizzes and exams.
