Firmware and Fedora 42 won't update on Dell Inspiron laptop

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop with F41. Trying to get to F42. The software update page says F42 is available, also the Integrated firmware (1.35.0-1.36.0) is available. If I click on the grey download button for firmware update, It shows me the loading update page, then gets right back to the main updates page, with no changes. If I click on the F42 download button, it shows the progress bar and gets to 100%, but then goes right back to the main page, no “Restart and update” button. I’ve tried shutting down and restarting and the same thing happens. Any ideas?

Update: found this post for updating firmware Software update for Dell stuck which pointed me to fwupdmgr and that updated the firmware.

Welcome to Fedora @goodideadave

Next time just answer to your selves and mark the topic as solution.

It’s not fixed, as in I have no solution to the original problem of won’t update from the GUI. I was hoping someone would weigh in as to how to get the GUI to work.

In the meantime, I’m working my way through the CLI.

I see, as I also have a dell and got same issue, I also made it on the CLI.

I think as long as nobody looks with dell it selves, it probably wont be fixed.
Mine is very old, so I do not expect a fix as long as I have the CLI option.

I let it unmarked then, so that if someone found a solution can post it.
