Many yt and fb videos do not work on firefox. After installing codecs .rpm version works normally. Unfortunately the flatpak version still does not play these videos.
Where can this be reported? It seems to me that this is a problem only on fedora because on other distributions I also use the flatpak version and never had a problem.
flatpak list shows org.freedesktop.Platform.ffmpeg-full and org.freedesktop.Platform.openh264
I believe that Fedora has it’s own flatpak of Firefox.
You can remove that one and install the one from Mozilla.
I checked both versions and unfortunately it is the same.
I installed the latest org.freedesktop.Platform.openh264 and org.freedesktop.Platform.ffmpeg-full
Nothing helped but … I noticed that it is about H264 codec. I installed enhanced-h264ify, blocked H264 and at least all videos on YT work.
Did you installed it from flathub if not try doing that and are you in xorg or wayland .?
flatpak install flathub org.mozilla.firefox
I did exactly that. I also checked the flatpak version of fedora. Unfortunately it is the same. I used flatseal and set it to run from xorg. I also did some other changes and always the same result, it does not play H264
Firefox have some issues i know but still there are some hardware acceleration issues. Still look do a uninstall that flatpak and clear data
Flatpak uninstall --delete-data
Then install from flathub uaing my previous cmds
I wanted to do what you recommended but I noticed that there is a Fedora platform 37 eg org.fedoraproject.Platform update. I updated it and h264 started working… O.o I checked the other hardware on which I had the same problem and actually after updating this flatpak is now working properly.
Thank you very much for your help. It’s just a shame that I struggled with it for quite a long time and the problem would have been fixed anyway without my intervention xd
