Started yesterday. No matter whether I’m on kernel 6.17 or 6.12. Firefox 145 ate all the 32GB of RAM and system crawled to a halt. Top showed load of 10 10 10. Had to SYSREQ SUB.
Happened again today when I was at the keyboard and noticed I was in molasso. Issued a killall firefox to recover.
I don’t browse the internet with FF. Reserved for LAN usage only and my web pages haven’t been changed in years.
Could not be neccessarily firefox, but anything in the last dnf upgrade I ran last Thursday.
The next time this happens, try hitting Shift+Escape within Firefox and see which tab is actually consuming more than its fair share. Can’t say I can replicate this, but I am using Zen (which is based on FF 145) and I’m not seeing a massive influx of people with the same issue so far… hence it would be useful to know which tab and what that tab was pointing at when your ram was consumed by FF.
Oh I know which tab precisely. It’s the tab monitoring surveillance cameras. Happens only in this edition of FF. Doesn’t happen whsn I switch to another browser.
