Hello,
I tried everthing to disable firefox from restoring my previous tabs and windows on reboot , it seems to come from the system no firefox if i close firefox and open it again it will always start empty but no on a reboot.
I disable restore previous session in the kde settings.
Is there any other setting somewhere hidden in the system that does this ?
I am using fedora 43 kde.
Thank You
Ramiro
Have you disabled ārestore sessionā in Firefox settings?
Under normal circumstances, you should be able to disable this in Firefox>Settings:
That said, since the behavior persists after reboot, but not in a single login session, I wonder if you have a Firefox (and potentially other applications) settings backup/default that gets applied at boot time. Does the same thing happen if, rather than rebooting, you log out, then log back in again?
AFAIK, thatās not normal behavior. Is there a settings/user backup that you load/restore at boot/login time?
Check this setting.
Also, do you use Firefox Sync with the āOpen Tabsā option included in the sync between devices?
Offcourse i have Restore the previous session disabled , even disabled the crash session restore didnāt change anything.
It also happens when i logout and login.
Yes i am using firefox synch with open tabs.
Iām guessing (I donāt use Firefox Sync) that it may well be that sync which is storing a list of your open tabs that gets propagated back to your desktop session when you log in.
Iām not sure how to address that as I donāt use that feature, but perhaps @pg-tips can assist with that, as they appear to know something about it.
I use Zen which is a Firefox fork, but this should exceptionally similar:
Settings / Manage Sync
Untick Open Tabs.
I think I can replicate the behaviour here:
- Have āOpen previous windows and tabsā option disabled like OP does
- Enable āOpen tabsā in the Firefox Sync settings
- Open some tabs
- Shut down or restart the machine without closing Firefox
- After rebooting and logging in, open Firefox again
- Previous tabs appear
If I close Firefox before shutting down, then I donāt see this - Firefox has nothing open when I run it after rebooting.
Interestingly I mostly use Floorp, and I canāt replicate this there.
I really donāt understand what sync should have to do with this , but just to be sure i disabled the open tab synchronisation , but as expected the tabs where back after reboot.
I found a info that fedora is killing firefox when you shutdown so firefox thinks it has crashed , but i even disabled the option to restore tabs after a crash , and tabs where still back after reboot , but not after firefox crashes so the option was working.
On windows i never had this so i am not sure if itās a firefox issue or something with kde.
I am having the same problem tried every possible setting including 3 or so in the about:config page.
