I have a laptop with a fingerprint sensor, how can I use it to login into my desktop?
Afaik Plasma 6 will support logging in with the fingerprint sensor, which will come with Fedora 40.
Currently with kde 5 on fedora 39 I can’t do it?
Not in SDDM (the initial login screen) but somewhat on the lockscreen.
The situation is a bit messy though. You will also miss hashing passwords with a fingerprint like there is on Android.
KWallet really needs some love
I upgraded from 39 to 40, on KDE
seems to be a minor step backwards
on 39, I used to be able to fingerprint unlock after waking from sleep, but now on 40, I have to put in my password
There is a note on the system settings user section to say that logging in is “not yet supported”
