I am having the same issue on a Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 GA605WV with AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Radeon 890M. I am experiencing freezes quite randomly that force me to kill the machine by holding the power button. I am experiencing the same behavior with audio either repeating the last second or so or sometimes continuing in the background. The issue is present on fedora 41 with kernel 6.12.9.
I did not have any freeze while running on the battery so far. Only when plugged in.
I have tried downgrading the mesa drivers from 6.3.3 to 6.2.4 on kernel 6.12 and the issue is still present. So although it seems that everybody here has an AMD CPU, the mesa drivers might not be responsible for the freezes in my particular case.
I will try to use kernel 6.11.4 and see if this version is also susceptible to freezes. I will update you if there is anything new on my side.
After trying every combination of kernel 6.12.9 and 6.11.4 with the mesa drivers 6.3.3 and 6.2.4, I can report that I experienced a freeze in all cases.
Interestingly, I had a freeze while connected to an external display today and the external display was still functional. I was able to check journalctl -b 0 -p 3
and found the same error message as in this issue.
Apparently suspending and resuming should work in this case, I actually haven’t tried but I will update my answer if it is the case for me too.
