Fedora won't boot afater kernel 6.3.12

Erreonous Behavior

Fedora won’t boot after kernel 6.3.12 (6.3.12, 6.4.4), after selecting the kernel from the grub menu, the screen becomes black with an underline in the left-top corner, then this underline is also gone, leaving the screen totally black.

  • OS: Fedora Linux 37 (Workstation Edition) x86_64
  • DE: GNOME 43.6
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 6600H with Radeon Graphics (12) @ 3.300GHz
  • GPU: AMD ATI Radeon 680M

What I have tried

  1. I have seen this post and thought my issue is also caused by TPM, so I added the kernel parameter tpm_tis.interrupts=0, still got the issue

boot log

You can check the boot log for kernel 6.3.8 (boots without any issue) and 6.4.4 (cannot boot) here

These logs come from:

$ sudo journalctl -k --boot=-1 # 6.4.4
$ sudo journalctl -k           # 6.3.8

One thing I noticed in the 6.4.4 boot log is that it is full of the following error message, but I am not sure if this is the root cause…

Jul 25 08:27:18 fedora kernel: [drm:dc_dmub_srv_wait_idle [amdgpu]] *ERROR* Error waiting for DMUB idle: status=3

Thanks in advance, and feel free to ask me anything that could help debug the issue!

This might be the same issue as this one. See my advice there, please report a bug against kernel.

Yes, I would expect this to be a likely cause of the problem.
