An issue / bug with Wayland roots wlr are you able to get to a new tty with ctrl+alt+f2 to downgrade Sway or wlroots?
Hi! I haven’t tried that. I just used an older kernel in the GRUB menu and i could boot.
How can i check the updates that were made in the last dnf upgrade so i can confirm that indeed sway or wlroots were updated?
dnf5 history info
if not wlroots or Sway, it will be kernel bug you should report in bugzilla.redhat.com so we can squash it.
Seems to be a kernel issue as I do not find any update in sway or wlroots. Let me file the bug in the link you provided. Thanks a lot

I found this issue that looks pretty similar in the bugzilla page:
My journalctl looks suspiciously similar, but i am not sure if i should file a bug anyway (dont want to create duplicates)

I think you should file it - I can’t tell if it is a duplicate.
Creating duplicates in good faith is fine, they will simply merge or close one if they need to.
Created Bug 2441276 in Bugzilla to track this issue.
Can i remove the faulty kernel in the meantime
Or should i just choose the good one in grub always?
It is safe to delete or downgrade.
You can also increase the number of kernels that are kept or pin your current usable kernel.
For ease, I would select the working kernel in grub for now, and after next update in a week or two, do one or more of the above steps so you don’t lose your working kernel.
I like the option to pin it? How do you do that? Grubby?
The very first line in the image you posted is about nouveau.
Do you have an nvidia GPU? and have you installed the nvidia drivers from rpmfusion?
If so then it could simply be that the driver did not get properly built before rebooting after the upgrade. Try the command sudo akmods --rebuild --force then reboot after that completes to see if things change..
Sorry for the late response, I was out of city! Thanks for the response (:
Yeah i have an NVIDIA GPU but I had to uninstall the drivers because the fedora Sway Spin does not support them, and i didnt want issues related to that. Anyway I can settle with nouveau driver. ![]()
About the issue, I just updated to 6.18.13 and it still occurs. I will hold on onto 6.18.9 until this is resolved/clarified heheh
I doubt the nvidia drivers are unsupported in Sway. The drivers are kernel related and not distro limited so AFAIK they can be used in any of the fedora released spins.
However, it is important to know the full hardware config to be able to track the problem.
Please post the full output of inxi -Fzxx as preformatted text here so we might be able to look at the hardware and software issues.
Once the system boots with the newer kernels then the nvidia drivers can be looked at. It is important to understand that the nouveau driver does not fully support any nvidia gpu, though the results are functional for all but the newest of those.

BTW i ran this on my functional kernel, not in the 6.18.13. should not make a difference, should it??
For many systems the newer kernels require newer firmware. I see yours is extremely old and dated 06/10/2019.
Maybe try updating the system firmware (bios) and see if that makes a difference.
I also see that you have a dual GPU setup with GTX 1050 nvidia gpu but are not using the nvidia drivers. If nouveau meets your needs this is good, but if you need better graphics performance then installing the nvidia driver may be something to consider.
It is most likely a hardware / kernel mismatch.
Nothing to do with Sway.
If next kernel update is still borked, increase you kernels to 5 and file a bug on bugzilla.
