Fedora SilverBlue 42 update issue. error: While applying overrides for pkg systemtap-runtime: Could not find group 'stapusr' in group file

For those running SilverBlue 42

Bug is already known/ bug report opened :

EDIT : this problem only occurs if some specific programs are layered
Unfortunately, systemtap.spec is not yet updated (backport from Redhat missing : 2359764 – rpm-ostree fails to upgrade if systemtap-runtime is layered) . We should monitor Fedora Updates System

Issue is still around. The recent systemtap package update didn’t solve the issue.
My system didn’t get updated since 2025-04-16 (hopefully I use browsers through Flatpak). It’s a pity that layering some packages (qemu qemu-kvm virt-manager for instance) can prevent receiving updates with SilverBlue or Kinoite because of a single package issue.
Not sure if I’ll install n immutable OS on my new laptop.

Issue is in rpm-ostree not in systemtap : Cannot layer any package on Fedora 42 · Issue #5365 · coreos/rpm-ostree · GitHub
We need to wait for sysusers support in RPM.
I concur that Atomic variants should be classified as “Experimental” .
Fedora Workstation is way more stable.
