Fedora Mentor Summit Lunch and Learn @ Flock To Fedora 2026

Introduction

In a welcoming community where everyone can be a mentee and a mentor, Fedora Mentor Summit is returning to 2026’s iteration of Flock To Fedora as an integrated event to foster the culture of mentoring in the community. While integrating the Fedora Mentor Summit with the main event (by 2026, for the fourth time), we are expanding the Fedora Mentor Summit Lunch and Learn programme to welcome everyone attending in person. :tada:

Marking a departure from our previous approach, interested folks can simply drop into the event without having to register for the Lunch and Learn programme. As long as they want to learn about or share more about one or more of the following areas, participants are welcome to collaborate thoughts and build connections all while coming together and sharing delicacies. All we ask is for you to vote for your area of interest in the following poll. :check_box_with_check:

How it works

  • Vote for one (or multiple) areas of interest in the following poll
  • Comment to share your preferred area of interest if not listed here
  • React to the areas of interest shared by others to convey interest
  • Deadline: May 15th, 2026

What will happen

  • In wide area groups, everyone can be a mentor and a mentee
  • Designated tables will be arranged at the event per selected areas
  • Participants can choose to join whichever group during the event
  • Share and gather experiences while following the event guidelines

Why join in

In the spirit of the Fedora Project’s Friends foundation, we want you to use this opportunity to connect with folks that you have not had the chance to meet before and exchange interesting stories and intriguing ideas all while sharing a relaxing meal. Whether you are hoping to learn something or teach someone during the programme’s duration, you not only make meaningful connections but you can also earn a shiny Fedora Badge :badger:

FAQs

  1. Do attendees have to be present in-person at the event to participate? :round_pushpin:
As the programme involves participants sharing meals (and crunching over UDP/TCP has not been yet invented), this event is unfortunately exclusive to in-person participants of Flock To Fedora 2026 only.

  2. When is this event going to be organized and at which location? :watch:
This event is preliminarily planned for the first day of Flock on Sunday, 14 June 2026 and is going to be organized in the same venue as the main conference, but is going to have a wider capacity for participants.

  3. Which interest areas and relevant topics can be included in the conversations? :bar_chart:
While the participants are strongly recommended to choose from one (or multiple) of the following options, all areas and topics are welcome with relation to Fedora Project, no matter the subproject or SIG.

  4. Can I be assigned with one more friend or colleague in the same match? :busts_in_silhouette:
Come on - Use this event to meet some people and make some friends! As the goal of this event is to make potential mentor/mentee matches, it will be for the best if participants open up to new connections.

  5. Can someone participate as both a mentor and a mentee? :teacher:
Why not - There is always something to learn (about a thing) and something to teach (about another thing) at all ends so it is totally possible for the participants to be a mentor and a mentee at a topic table.

  6. Can I move between tables/topics during the lunch programme? :person_running:
You may - but please be mindful of jumping in the deep end of the already progressing discussions and as such, consider waiting for your turn to provide your input before speaking up right away.

  7. Who can I reach out to, if and when I need more information on this? :information_source:
Please feel free to comment your questions and feedback in the thread and alternatively, folks can also reach out to @t0xic0der, @echevemaster and @jonatoni for more specific discussions about the event.
