Fedora IoT fails to install in Toshiba Satellite C600

Yeah, I know, pretty old laptop.

Hey all. I’m trying to run a server using Fedora IoT focused on containers. Currently it has latest Ubuntu LTS installed but I would like to use an atomic system.

I know the requirements list UEFI-only but to my surprise, the iso booted just fine (the BIOS doesn’t have UEFI mode).

The system gets to the installer and even starts installing, but eventually fails at the end. I didn’t get the error code but I could try again to post it here.

Should I just stick to non-atomic? Or has anyone succeeded on installing IoT on old hardware? Thanks for your time!

Fedora IoT is indeed UEFI only and lacks any support for BIOS boot. The installation will fail when installing the bootloader.

I would suggest you try Fedora CoreOS. It is very similar to IoT and can be installed on older BIOS based machines.
